Meet Kristin Stark, LMFT

Sex Therapist in Chattanooga, TNSex Therapist: Chattanooga, TN

Walking into my office takes a lot of courage. You are taking a step to open up and be vulnerable with a stranger. It’s terrifying. I meet you where you are and will not force you to talk about things you aren’t ready for. This is your therapy and we will customize it to your needs each session.

People often ask why I am passionate about working with sexuality. The answer is because sex has been distorted by our culture and personal experiences, which keeps us from fully enjoying ourselves as sexual beings. Working through sexual trauma, sexual addiction, or even intimacy, in general, feels like a mountain you will never reach the top of—especially on your own.

Plus, I’ve been there too… in my own therapy… sifting through messages I received growing up and searching for healing from trauma that has created many roadblocks. Working through the anger and the hurt. You and your experiences are unique and I understand on a level that someone who hasn’t been impacted by sexual trauma and addiction can’t.  If I can fight my way through, I know you can too. The fact that you are reading this speaks to your strength and resilience because you are searching for someone to help you conquer the mountain before you.

If you are looking for a therapist who will nod and agree with everything you are saying, I am not it. I want to help you break down those roadblocks no matter where you have been or what’s been done to you. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome is literally the definition of insanity. Chances are, you have done just about everything you can think of and still are not where you want to be. I am amazing at brainstorming new things to try and will get you unstuck.

What is Sex Therapy with Me Like?

The most common question I get from prospective clients is: What is therapy with
you like?
How you feel with me is the most important factor in your success. It is my #1 goal to provide a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space for you to share what’s going on. People will sometimes tense up before they share why they reallyKristen Headshots0032edit came to see me and watch cautiously for my reaction. Being a sex therapist, I am not shocked or in disbelief that you just said that or deal with this.

If I were criticizing your pain, I couldn’t help you.

Therapy with me is often described as a relief because it is with me people often share for the first time what is really going on. I work with you to create goals and give you tools and skills so that you no longer need to see me.

I hope this gives you an idea of who I am as a person and as a therapist. Below I have listed my credentials, education, and certifications to show that I not only have a heart for what I do but have received incredible training to equip myself to help you.
